Inspiring Workshops
with Anaïs & Nathan
We are excited to welcome Anaïs & Nathan from Grenoble, France, for a weekend of Lindy Hop workshops at Happy Feet Studio!
Anaïs & Nathan are coming to Copenhagen thanks to our local dance team, Happy Dozen, who have invited them and warmly recommend them as inspiring dancers and teachers. So we are very happy to open up this opportunity to the wider Happy Feet community.
Their teaching is rooted in connection, musicality, individuality, and freedom within the dance – with a strong love for jazz music and the culture behind it. Both Nathan and Anaïs dance and teach in both roles, and they bring a playful, thoughtful approach to improvisation, body awareness, and personal expression.
They will teach two 2-hour workshops:
• Saturday, June 20, 10:00–12:00
From Structure to Improvisation
(Intermediate level)
• Sunday, June 21, 10:00–12:00
From Variation to Improvisation
(Intermediate–Advanced level)
A weekend for dancers who want to become more musical, creative, and free in their social dancing 🎶

The weekend in details
Anaïs and Nathan met in 2016 and quickly developed a shared approach to lindy hop and solo jazz. Their collaboration is grounded in a strong focus on connection, musicality, and freedom within dance roles.
Since 2021, they have been teaching in France and internationally, and also lead regular classes with Mécanika’Swing in Grenoble.
Their practice is rooted in an ongoing exploration of jazz, with a particular interest in switching roles, individuality as both leader and follower, and the play of energy in dance. Passionate about music, they incorporate references to the artists who shaped the history of jazz into their teaching.
Their pedagogy relies on imagery and practical tools to develop body awareness, with the aim of approaching jazz in a way that is both expressive and personal.
Anaïs Nguyen Thé is a multidisciplinary artist (dancer and musician). Since 2015, she has been teaching swing dances (lindy hop, solo jazz) and blues dance. Based in Grenoble, she co-founded the school Mécanika’Swing. Since 2023, she has also been performing as a dancer in the swing and contemporary dance show “Echoes of the Jungle.”
On the musical side, she sings and is the lead vocalist of the swing band The Downtown Stompers. Her experience as a musician constantly enriches both her dancing and her teaching.
Nathan sees dance as a laboratory for experimenting with rhythms, grooves, and moods, letting himself be guided above all by the musicians. Passionate about jazz culture and always on the lookout for new tracks, he considers the practice of swing dancing to be inseparable from listening to the music. Whether leading, following, or dancing solo, he draws inspiration from both past and present influences, in jazz and beyond.

✤ From Structure to Improvisation ✤
Time: 10.00-12.00
Description: A workshop to explore the structure of swing and blues music and learn how to feel grounded within it.
Using practical improvisation tools, we will work on musicality and storytelling to create dances with or without a partner that feel clear, alive, and expressive.
Level guidance: intermediate -> we recommend that you have danced Lindy Hop at least a year or longer, to join this workshop
✤ From Variation to Improvisation ✤
Time: 10.00-12.00
Description: How do we express our own movement and authenticity when improvising with a partner? Can we try to quote less and improvise more? We’ll try to go from using variations that we’ve learnt to creating our own patterns on the spot with the music.
Level guidance: Intermediate-Advanced -> we recommend you have danced Lindy Hop for several years and you are someone currently taking some of the higher level classes in Cph.
